Dreams Come True Partners with Burdette Ketchum to celebrate local boy’s Disney Dream

On Friday, February 10, 2017 our team visited the office of Dreams Come True of Jacksonville to celebrate 5-year-old Kane Diperna’s Disney dream.

Kane, who was diagnosed with Wilms’ tumor in December 2015, entered the Dreams Come True office to many new faces, but left with many friends. Kane and his family were given the opportunity to meet members of the Burdette Ketchum team while hearing about all the special details of their upcoming family adventure.

Burdette Ketchum, one of Dreams Come True’s 2017 community partners, made a contribution to fund Kane’s dream trip. The donation is the first of many proposed vehicles of support the local agency plans to direct to Dreams Come True this year.

“Through our Heart Strings program, we have been able to donate time, resources, services and financial support for more than 20 years in the community,” said Karen Burdette, Founder and Chairman of Burdette Ketchum. “In recognition of our 20th anniversary, we chose Dreams Come True as an organization to support as we have always admired their mission and impact and are so proud to partner with them to bring Kane and his family a little joy and happiness.”

Dreams Come True directs 100 percent of donations from the community, unless designated otherwise by the donor, directly toward the dreams of children on the First Coast battling life-threatening illnesses. Through their community partners, Dreams Come True has been honored to never deny an eligible child a dream or start a waiting list in its 33-year history.

“The support Dreams Come True receives from the Northeast Florida community is vital to the day-to-day operation of fulfilling local children’s dreams, like Kane,” stated Sheri Criswell, Executive Director for Dreams Come True of Jacksonville. “We are honored to have Burdette Ketchum as a community partner and their commitment to give back to so many wonderful nonprofit organizations in our community has made a tremendous philanthropic impact on the First Coast.”

During their dream trip to Central Florida, Kane and his family will be special guests at Give Kids TheWorld, a magical village dedicated specifically to dream children and their families. Dreamers enjoy at the village all-you-can-eat ice cream, arcade games that do not require quarters, nightly parties, swimming pools, a castle, and visits by the village mayor, who just happens to be a big giant rabbit! Disney dreaming is always a favorite because of the village and all the theme parks families get to visit: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Universal, Islands of Adventure, and Sea World. From rides to park hopping to a special button that gets them as close to the front of the lines as possible, dream children are treated as royalty for a week in the most magical place on earth.
